We love offering value-add to our customers. Here's our top stroller care tips that might be a nice lil refresher for all parents out there :)

Capella Stroller Comparison August 31, 2015 13:52

One of our bestsellers at Bestbaby is from the Capella stroller range. Customers come to us as we have good product knowledge and there's not much details on Capella strollers out there in the market.

We have gone the extra mile and compiled a comparison of Capella strollers :)

The following are standard across all Capella strollers:

  • Supports age group of 0 - 24 months
  • Support child's weight up to 18 kgs
  • Offers 99% UV protection, 0.3 g shock absorption and brain protection

Also the difference between the 2015 and 2013 models are:

  • Different colours
  • 2015 models have plusher and comfier premium fabric
  • Slight differences in features for some models

Capella strollers offer a variety of features, some more than the rest. Most parents are interested in:

  • Stroller weight: Generally the heavier strollers have better handling however lighter strollers are very popular for the day to day use as generally parents would have a fair bit to carry from handbags to diaper bags etc. When parents are alone and with no one else to help with the weight, a light stroller is God-sent!
  • Reversible handle / Reversible Seat: During the younger years and even in crowded spaces, your little one would take comfort is seeing a familiar face so this is a very important feature.
  • 4 wheel swivel: Better handling goes a long way when you want to push your stroller with one hand and for long walks. Ask any experienced parent or any guy for that matter - 4 wheel drives are for the win!

Learning Through Play - A Child's Main Job! August 28, 2015 13:20

"Play is the highest form of research" - Albert Einstein

Oh how fun, and how important! Wouldn’t we all like that to be our full time jobs?

Many people do not realize just how important play-time is to a child. Sure they love the bright colours and the fun sounds, but it truly is educational to them. Children learn from everything they experience during the day. Check out our fun infographic below on what exactly children gain from learning :)

Spectra Pumps, Spectra pumps – who is the fairest of them all? August 24, 2015 12:40

We have received this question (at least, a different version of it) many times and while we have done a comparison post on it before, some mothers prefer a simple clear cut answer. We are happy to oblige – we know mommas juggle SO MANY things at once and we aim to serve!

So our usual suspects:

  1. The Spectra S1
Popularity status – very high. Hospital grade pump perfect for mothers who are low yield or just want to get more out of their pumping sessions. Rechargeable battery – absolutely! The only hitch – it’s a tad bit bigger than the personal pumps (M1 & S9+).
  1. The Spectra S2

Popularity status – Mediocre. It is everything the S1 has to offer except it does not have a rechargeable battery. It is $47 cheaper than the S1 for those who want the other perks of the S1 without the price tag, and a wee bit lighter too.

  1. The Spectra Dew
Popularity status – Mediocre to high. It has the highest vacuum strength, need I say more? It may not have all the other nifty features but for someone who wants the best there is to offer in terms of the core feature – this is it!
  1. The Spectra M1

Popularity status – Oh so very popular! Personal grade pump, light-weight and does a fab job. Rechargeable battery means this little fella will fit in your handbag. Oh and the price tag – it’s the cheapest of them all, hence potentially the fairest too :)

  1. The Spectra S9+

Popularity status – crazy high! It’s the lightest of them all! It has everything the M1 has to offer, a nice compact shape that lets you fit it into your pocket and a timer so you don’t under or over pump.

So probably not a one line answer but we believe in giving you options and the honest truth :) We are not any other online shop just selling pumps, we believe in providing value service so you know exactly what you are getting into. As always, we have ready stock on these and we are an authorised reseller so shop with absolute confidence. You will receive your pump within 1 - 2 days, free of charge :)

Happy pumping mommas!

World Breastfeeding Week Exclusive Interview - Doris Winata! August 14, 2015 10:34

Happy World Breastfeeding Week Mamas! We are ending our series of breastfeeding mummas with yet another amazing Mumma - Doris Winata who marks her 1 year of breastfeeding today!

Just a little background - as a tribute and a mark of respect to the dedication mothers in Singapore put in to their breastfeeding journey, we have spoken to a few mothers and gathered their thoughts and feelings about breastfeeding in Singapore.

Doris Winata shares her story, her tips for overcoming challenges and even some pictures of her handsome lil fella who is wearing Bestbaby's Signature Pro-Breastfeeding Romper and totally owning it!

1. How has the breastfeeding journey been for you? What do you like the most about it?

Breastfeeding for me personally has been a tumultuous roller-coaster journey with panda looking eyes due to insufficient sleep, mastitis, fever ironically mixed with indescribable joy and pride when I see my boy grow up healthily day by day.

2. When and why did you decide to breastfeed?

I decided to breastfeed before giving birth simply because breastmilk is the best nutrient for baby.

3. How many months has it been? What has kept you going up to this day?

Counting down to 12 months on 14th August 2015! I wanted to wean off at 6 months but baby Loewe was unable to drink formula. I’ve bought every brand of formula milk available in the supermarket but couldn’t find one that is suitable for him ie hard poop, allergy, vomiting, diarrhoea even when mixed with breastmilk.

4. Who has been your biggest supporter?

My hubby! He would wake me up in the middle of the night to pump, wash my pump parts and bottles, bring me water when I’m thirsty and cook noodles when I’m hungry. Having friends who are experiencing similar situation also helps to keep me awake with the whatsapp chats at odd hours of 3am or 4am. Joining Breastfeeding Mums facebook group also encourage me to keep going with so many amazing testimonies and milk-booster tips.

5. What are your top tips for other breastfeeding mothers and aspiring breastfeeders?

Keep pumping; it gets easier over the months. I started with small goals; aiming to breastfeed for 3 months, then 6 months, then 10 months and eventually 1 year.

6. How do you manage as a working mum?

Freemie! I was blown away by how quiet Freemie motor is and little pain during pumping when introduced by BestBaby owner, Kamenii. I work in an open concept office with no partition. With Freemie, I can pump while working quietly without anyone noticing.

7. What were some of the challenges you faced and how did you overcome them?

Loads of challenges! Managed to sail through all of them eventually though :)

  • Blocked ducts: shower and massage breasts in hot water
  • Mastitis and fever: engage breast massage lady and take medicine
  • Overseas business trips: pump, store and freeze breastmilk. Then fly them back to SG via cold box
  • Worry that my boy isn’t getting enough nutrients as his weight is only between 5th - 10th percentile; encouragement from my PD that Loewe is growing healthily.
  • Desperate need to sleep & endless tiredness: telling myself it’s just xxx months to go!

8. What do you feel about the support and culture in Singapore with regards to breastfeeding?

Support for breastfeeding mums is growing with greater awareness via media. Eventually, it depends on the individual to support breastfeeding mums to keep going.

9. Do you ever nurse in public and if so, how was the experience?

No, I usually pump in the car with freemie to save time.

10. Is there anything else you would like to add?

To all breastfeeding mums-to-be, sometimes down the road, it may feel like a lonely tiring journey but it is not; similar to a marathon, sometimes you can sprint but sometimes, you just wanna jog or walk slowly. Don’t stop, just keep walking, keep drinking water and eat nutritious food. The finishing line is drawing nearer with each step you take.

World Breastfeeding Week Exclusive Interview - Kristine Sansangan! August 11, 2015 16:17

Happy World Breastfeeding Week Mamas! It's kinda an elevated celebration with SG50 just over!

As a tribute and a mark of respect to the dedication mothers in Singapore put in to their breastfeeding journey, we have spoken to a few mothers and gathered their thoughts and feelings about breastfeeding in Singapore.

Today we have Kristine Sansangan with her very photogenic little man! I mean - look at that boy! Kristine's son is wearing Bestbaby's Signature Pro-Breastfeeding Romper and totally rocking it!

1. How has the breastfeeding journey been for you? What do you like the most about it?

It was like roller coster ride as it has been a mixture of emotions all throughout. It wasn't as easy as I expected as I have a very low pain tolorence but with the help of my hubby and the rest of my family, I was able to make it until now happily and fulfilled.

2. When and why did you decide to breastfeed?

I decided after I knew I am conceiving my 2nd child. I had my eldest on complete formula back then due to my lack of knowledge in breastfeeding. So my 2nd child was my chance to give out my best and learn everything I can to make it a successful journey.

3. How many months has it been? What has kept you going up to this day?

16 fullfilling months of breastfeeding. His invincible health keeps me going to this journey. For the record he had only been mildy sick 3 times since birth (due to 1st vaccine and 2 mild colds for few days). I can see how breastfeeding is making him such a healthy and happy baby so no reason for me to stop until he weans.

4. Who has been your biggest supporter?

Hubby and my sister who take care of my kids and FaceBook Support Groups.

5. What are your top tips for other breastfeeding mothers and aspiring breastfeeders?

Research as early as you can and get all the knowledge and support you can get - it will really come handy once breastfeeding journey starts.
Set your mind to fully breastfeed and know very well how good it can be for you and baby so you won't easily give up on this journey.
Get support - be honest with what your intention of exclusively breastfeeding especially with your husband and other people who will be in most contact with you throughout this journey. It is very inportant that they too, are informed of all it's benefits.

6. How do you manage as a working mum?

I set a schedule to pump at work, stay happy and trust my body.

7. What were some of the challenges you faced and how did you overcome them?

I had a very low pain tolerance and the 1st month challenged me the most due to sore nipples. I always ask support from hubby and read a lot to keep me going.

8. What do you feel about the support and culture in Singapore with regards to breastfeeding?

Very accomodating. A lot of nursing rooms everywhere which makes it more convenient.

9. Do you ever nurse in public and if so, how was the experience?

Not yet.

10. Is there anything else you would like to add?

Breastfeeding is one of the best gift every mother can experience in their motherhood. It is giving a special part of you ; your time, your body, your selfless love - to nurture your child the best possible way that you could. What you give to your child and to yourself will always be something you will treasure for a lifetime. Hats off to all breastfeeding mummies!

World Breastfeeding Week Exclusive Interview - Azlina Ninsawi! August 1, 2015 11:34

Happy World Breastfeeding Week Mamas!

As a tribute and a mark of respect to the dedication mothers in Singapore put in to their breastfeeding journey, we have spoken to a few mothers and gathered their thoughts and feelings about breastfeeding in Singapore.

Our first Supermama - Azlina Ninsawi with her two little angels! Azlina's daughter is wearing Bestbaby's Signature Pro-Breastfeeding Romper. Thanks for sharing your story Azlina!

1. How has the breastfeeding journey been for you? What do you like the most about it?

Well, the initial stage of the breastfeeding journey wasn't that easy though. I had frequent blocked ducts that had to be attended to by a lactation nurse. Following that, I manage to handle the overflowing supply by letting my daughter latch more frequently. Honestly, I rarely pump as I find it very tiring and by doing so, I feel that there will be excess milk supplied thus I told myself, just latch whenever possible. The bond that I have with my daughter is definitely a different one compared to my son as I feel my daughter is super attached and clingy to me all b'coz of my boobies... hehehehe...

2. When and why did you decide to breastfeed?

The moment my daughter was born, I just told myself that I will try to breastfeed her for as long as I can. Besides knowing the Power & Wonders of Breastmilk, I also understand that I could save a lot of money from not buying milk powder so I told myself why not! In fact, I couldn't believe that I've been able to breastfeed for this long!!

3. How many months has it been? What has kept you going up to this day?

It's been a Wonderful Twenty Months of my breastfeeding journey & every time I think of how much I'd save from buying milk powder, the special moments I have with my daughter and the benefits it has, that just kept me going...

4. Who has been your biggest supporter?

Definitely, my husband! Thank you darling for being very supportive, patient and a loving husband!! You've been there when I was at my worst; Mastitis till I am able to breastfeed her till this long! I still remember how you helped me to unblock those ducts patiently.

5. What are your top tips for other breastfeeding mothers and aspiring breastfeeders?

Don't despair when you've got blocked ducts, reach out to your supportive lactation nurses and the breastfeeding support group. Continue to breastfeed your child no matter how painful it is. Not only will you save a lot of money from not buying milk powder but also the benefits of breastmilk is Worth-It!!! You can also breastfeed your child anytime & anywhere!!

6. How do you manage as a working mum?

I'm a shift worker thus my timetable is as such that she will sleep-in with me overnight to be breastfed and usually I will breastfeed her before going to work and after I come home.

7. What were some of the challenges you faced and how did you overcome them?

I still remembered when I went on my 1st trip to Hong Kong-China, most of the time we had to be on the move, I learnt how to breastfeed her while even on the move, it wasn't easy since I wear Hijab but I made it through. On top of that, 2 months before i was going back to work, I started to switch her to bottles but I failed. She totally rejected bottles no matter how long I tried. She'd rather go without milk then drinking from bottles. I was stressed out although I kept trying from asking someone else to feed her, to buying different bottles n teats (now my house is like a mini-Kiddy Palace) and to staying out of house for more than 12 hours, still she refuses to drink from anywhere else except my boobs. And so... I had to take no-pay leave to give her all the milk that she need till she's at least 6 months old when she can start to have solid. But the sacrifices I did was worth it!!! Money can't buy the love and that special moment shared with each other!

8. What do you feel about the support and culture in Singapore with regards to breastfeeding?

Based on my experience, I think Singapore is encouraging more mummies to breastfeed their child. Just take a look at the revamped nursing rooms in the Shopping Centres, it's so cozy, cleaner and with a nice, relaxed environment. In fact, nursing rooms are easily available & strategically located anywhere in Singapore. I feel these are some of the initiatives that Singapore is doing by supporting breastfeeding mummies. Thumbs up!

9. Do you ever nurse in public and if so, how was the experience?

Yes, I have. Plenty of times. Initially, it was a very shy experience since I'm a hijab wearer. People tend to look but after I told myself not to think of what others think of me and that my baby is hungry n need her milk then, I just concentrate my attention on my daughter instead of the eyes that's looking at me. Some people do not mind you breastfeeding in public but some do. To each, it's (their) opinion.

10. Is there anything else you would like to add?

Breastfeeding is Great! Continue to breastfeed for as long as you can! If you intend to carry on even after you've start working, my advice is to introduce giving breastmilk in bottles to your baby as early as 3 weeks OK. That special moment and feeling you have with your baby is so... special that only YOU breastfeeding mummies can feel which no one else could ever experience! Its definitely a memory of a lifetime!!! Happy World Breastfeeding week to all you Awesome Mummies out there, embrace the moments...

Bestbaby Calls for Responsible Breastfeeding July 15, 2015 16:57

Oh that's a controversial statement isn't it? World Breastfeeding Week 2015 is coming up and I'm thrilled and excited - today I want to touch on the mindset of breastfeeding mothers. I felt a personal call to write this and as you read on you will find out more.

In our experience speaking to customers and also being in touch with the community, breastfeeding mothers fall into 3 categories when it comes to breastfeeding:

  • It's breastfeed-way or the highway. I will convert the world to agree and support me.
  • I'm a closet breastfeeder. I feel guilty being able to do it, so I'll be silent even though I am overjoyed! I mean, what would others feel?
  • I really don't care what you do, I will make my informed decision and do what I want to do.

The problem with the first and second approach is that it creates an environment of negative emotions - there's perceived bullying, there's cliques, there's judgement and there's guilt and constant fear of offending others. In an environment like this, there's little support without feeling judged. As you read this, many of you will relate. I have the benefit of having personally spoken to my clients both as a coach and as a web-store owner and the science behind the psychology to hack it.

At Bestbaby and as a mother myself, we truly believe the best position to take is the last position. I am saddened by the emotionally charged debates and worse off, the guilt trips mothers go on from the entire debate. I am an advocate to breastfeeding, but I call it Responsible Breastfeeding. We are all mothers and we all want the best for our child. There's a host of different studies that says different ideas and proven facts - and even after someone takes the time to read through all of that, the forming of an opinion can still be different among different women. Anyone heard of the story of the Blind Men and the Elephant?

So what's Responsible Breastfeeding? It's has 3 steps to it:

  • Educate yourself. Speak to experts in the field, read credible sources. I am going to say it again because it is that important - read credible sources! Just because it's on the internet doesn't make it the truth. Take everything with a pinch of salt. It is your responsibility to feed your mind with quality materials.
  • Make a decision. Everyone has this unique and empowering ability to make a decision. Your decision is yours to make, in some cases it's a joint decision with your husband. Ultimately once you make it, then focus only on how to make that the best decision in your life. Breastfeed vs. Formula Feed vs. Mixed Feed? Direct latch vs. Exclusive Pumping? Create your state of mind by deciding as when you decide for yourself, you will feel alive and in charge.
  • Live and let live. Here's where the responsible part comes in - just as you have done your research and made your decision, let's assume the mother next to you has done the same. Let's assume how she chooses to feed her child is her vision of the best she can provide for her child. As long as there's no harm to the child (feeding poison for example!) then there is no moral obligation to intervene or worse - judge! Responsible Breastfeeding simply means "I respect you mama, whatever your choice is. You go and be awesome! I will too!" As a community of mothers, we should support each other. We are mothers above all rest.

For those mothers still trying to shake off the guilt trip - get some help. The community is great to share your feelings and get the hug of support, there's always comfort in numbers. However if you are serious about actually taking charge, speak to someone who will whip you into the mental gladiator you need to be. That can be a friend who says it as it is or a paid coach - my clientele from Epiphany Coaching have consistently raved about the value the tools I teach them to self coach and to break their disempowering patterns.

To the mothers who are guilt-tripping others out there - Live and Let Live! Imagine how you feel when you are criticised and judged. We judge others by their behaviours but ourselves by our intention. By that same token, pro-formula companies / mothers have a good intention too and they believe it in. Remember - there's a difference in educating / sharing facts and telling someone 'you should do this / do that'. Your words have the power to create and the power to destroy - will you be a positive force or a negative force?

Bestbaby has recently launched our pro-breastfeeding rompers to raise the awareness about breastfeeding and to normalise breastfeeding. We want mothers who breastfeed to breastfeed proudly, just as a mother for formula feeds should do so proudly. Be proud of your choices, whichever it is :)

Love,
Kamenii
Founder of Bestbaby & Epiphany Coaching

The Only 4 Reasons to Swaddle Away July 1, 2015 14:38

We like quick and concise articles, this is a fast moving world we are in now and we just want to provide the best value in a fast and quick bang! Here goes :)

    1. Babies sleep longer

Babies are used to being cuddled warm and tight in the womb, it helps to replicate the same environment once they are born as it gives a sense of security.

    2. Less crying

Jerky arm and leg movements which will happen a lot as a newborn often startled and over-stimulate babies, and this leads to crying. Swaddling reduces the involuntary jerky movements, hence the crying.

    3. Reduce the risk of SIDS

Swaddling reduces the ability of a newborn to flip on to their tummies, which can contribute to SIDS. Babies should always be placed on their backs to reduce SIDS.

    4. Fewer scratches

The fingernails of your little one grow at incredible speed! You can always use mittens as an alternative, but a swaddle does the job well along with the other reasons.

Bestbaby carries a wide range of swaddling cloths to suit your needs.

Top 5 New Mum Must-Haves No One Tells You About! June 17, 2015 23:51

This is for all first time mothers - hear us out. I have chatted and been on the phone with one too many customers that are first time mothers and it's unanimous - the amount of information & products out there is mind-boggling!

Here's our quick round-up, primarily from our own experience as first time parents, and our research:

    1. A Great Breast Pump

Bestbaby's Top Tip: Invest in a handsfree pump - the Freemie Collection Cup. Whichever electric pump you want is fine, but you have to get the Freemie Collection Cup

There are good electric pumps out there but only one that truly gives you hands-free operation, that is the Freemie. Slide it into your bra cups and pumps while you work or commute or cook or pilot a helicopter - the possibilities are endless!

Kamenii started out with the good ol'fashioned hold them horns to the breast pumping and hello wasted time, no multi-tasking and backaches. With the Freemie, pumping milk was a brand new easy journey - multitasking daily reads/work and making use of otherwise wasted time in commuting.

Try this one: Freemie Collection Cup, on discount now at $149 (normally $199) with free courier shipping. We recommend checking out our post on the most popular Freemie combinations with electric pumps - because we have tons of customer data!

    2. A Baby Carrier

Bestbaby's Top Tip: Look for a carrier that's easy to put on and take off, and adjustable straps that let you distribute the weight as you see fit and of course, ergonomic for your baby.

Baby wearing is popular and has tons of benefits. The main reason this makes our list is we found that when you don't have enough time on your hands to do everything (it will happen, trust us), carrying your tot hands-free will be God-sent. The secret perk - you will often find your tot asleep within minutes.

Up to this day, our 17 month old still calms down in impossible situations when placed in the carrier. In fact we just did a long flight to New York and there were countless times the carrier came in handy - on the flight, walking through busy streets and let's not get started on the bumpy stroller damaging sidewalks!

Try this one: ErgoBaby Carriers, ranges from $152-233 with free courier shipping. We use the Performance Ventus on especially hot days and the Ergo360 on days we want to carry him facing forward / on our backs.

    3. A High Chair

    Bestbaby's Top Tip: Go IKEA.

Nothing comes as cheap and good as the iconic IKEA high chair. Of course you can fancy it out with the OXO Tot Sprout Chair at our discounted price of $399 with free courier shipping - your baby does deserve the best after all!

    4. A Soothing Rocker

Bestbaby's Top Tip: Trick out your rocker, you will appreciate it when you need your toddler to stay put while you use the loo!

There are basic rockets then there are rockers with music and vibrations - you will soon realise when you have a child that buying 3 minutes of alone time is priceless! This 3 minutes is also all you will need when you hit the loo or take 3 minute intervals at making dinner.

Try this one: Rhythm of the Reef Rocker at $169.90 with free courier shipping. We like the soothing classical music to mellow down our little fella and the sea animal prints (we are divers so we are a wee bit biased) that we point and name every time we put him in. SAHMs will love this nifty time-maximiser!

    5. A Mobile

Bestbaby's Top Tip: Colours, lights and sounds and you have a winner!

We started out without a mobile and we felt a little sad for our son as he lay there staring into space whenever we put him in the crib.

So we got ourselves the Soothe 'n Groove Mobile and you could see him staring at it, soon he was little smiles and was reaching out for it (there were moments of frustration when he couldn't touch it!) and the music was an instant calmer. He could stare at the Mobile and fall asleep most days when he was younger - at 18 months now, there's a different set of tricks!

Try this one: Soothe 'n Groove Mobile at our discounted price of $109.90 (normally $149) with free courier shipping. Did we mention the cute animals?

    The New and Improved Spectra 9+ and M1! May 27, 2015 13:31

We like continuous improvement! Shows that a brand takes themselves seriously and is not complacent with their booming success!
The 9+ and M1 are now much quieter than the previous version so that's great for pumping mommas! In addition to that, the Spectra sets we are selling are the new batches which has 2 key improvements, as follows:
    1. Backflow Protector
    • Backflow Protector Cover is encase by the Backflow Protector Membrane so there is no possibility of milk crossing the membrane to cause backflow.
    • Backflow Protector Cover caps on the membrane to ensure a secure fit.

    2. T Connector - new batches of M1 includes the new T connector
    • Do not have to pull out the connector when performing single pumping. Cover is provided to cover up the other side of the nozzle, making it easy to switch between single and double pumping.
    • Secure
    • No short tubing is required.

    SUPERMOM's out there - Happy Mother's Day!!! May 10, 2015 13:53

The Most Popular Freemie Combinations May 4, 2015 14:58

Bestbaby Singapore has been selling the Freemie for a long time now and our bestseller under the Nursing collection is, no surprise here - the Freemie!

We have a lot of new mothers purchasing their pumps for the first time and want in on the Freemie revolution and ask us what are the popular combinations. From our experience selling to mothers and because we provide personalised service, we also know what is the pump that mothers are using the Freemie with and what works well.

Here's our round-up, a short and straight to the point 'note' for busy mommas!

By far, the most popular combination. By far! And we get it - the Spectra 9+ is a sleek pocket sized wonder that truly transforms the entire breastfeeding experience when coupled with the Freemie cups. As a breastfeeding mother myself, I wish I had both of these from the get-go rather than my expensive initial investment in a pump that is very underused now (no names mentioned here but the Bestbaby's customers know, haha)!
The M1 is equally popular, the size is just a wee bit bigger than the 9+ by appearance as the design of the product is circular rather than a block bar that the 9+ is. The M1 does weight 200g more than the 9+ so that's a key consideration other than the fact that the 9+ also has a timer function.
Then there's the S1. A quality hospital grade double pump that gives justifies the additional weight as it's more hardy than the M1 and the 9+. With the night light, it is perfect for night time pumping and there's a timer too for the sleepy bleary eyed night time pumps. We've all done it before, falling asleep while we pump!
Do note we have a Purchase with Purchase Promo that gives you $20 off your next purchase when you make a purchase above $200. So this way you can purchase the Spectra and then get the Freemie at a $20 discount! As usual, Bestbaby promises free shipping! Order by noon, and receive your order the same day - free! Use this discount code when you checkout now- PwP$20! We limited this to only 5 deals per month as both the Freemieand Spectra is already on promo prices :D
In our next post, we will show you how to set up the Freemie with the Spectra and Freestyle.
      • Medela Freestyle

This appears to be the most popular pump in the market for existing mothers. It's a battery operated pump as well, just like the Spectra, and palm sized. Compared to the 9+, the Freetsyle weights a good 90-100g more and that tends to be a deal breaker for some especially when the pricing comparisons come into play. The Spectra 9+ retails at $249 on discount whereas the Freestyle goes for $699 on discount.
The set-up to Freemie is similar as the Spectra.
      • Medela Pump in Style

The less popular Medela pump when it comes to combining with the Freemie, at least in Singapore! Understandably so too, with it's bulkier packaging. Still - a very popular and sturdy pump for the breastfeeding journey and if the PISA is your weapon of choice, then you can be sure to still enjoy the benefits the Freemie brings.

The PISA is one of the compatible pumps with the Freemie which means you do not need the backflow protector to enable usage however since the new collection cups come with the backflow protector, I always advice mothers to just use the backflow protector in case of any mis-fittings and the milk does backflow. Protect your pump mommas!

This list is not complete without the special mention for the Freemie Freedom - the quietest pump in the market. The perfect pump for night time pumping to not wake up the household and the best pump for office pumping as you can truly pump at your desk - with no sound. The faintest vibration that is softer than the handphone vibration, the Freemie Freedom is in a class of it's own.

We have Spectra Now! Compare pumps and prices - look out for the promo within! April 23, 2015 18:27

That's right - we are carrying Spectra now. A Korean brand that has taken the world by storm and popularly used with the Freemie for the ultimate breast-pumping experience!

We have gathered the facts of each pump in an easy to read table format (courtesy of Spectra Australia) for you to review and decide which works best for you!

        Who is Bestbaby?? March 28, 2015 10:33

Bestbaby.com.sg was born out of the love parents have for their child and well, ours came 14 months ago when the little man was born. Having him in our lives has been the most enriching and fulfilling experience and we are continuously striving to give him the best because he's our Best Baby!

A lot of people told me from the get go that having a child would be tiring and say goodbye to a full night's rest and I will no longer have a social life - most people forgot to mention that at the end of the day they wouldn't want it any other way. The joy that a child brings far outweighs everything else and with the right mindset, support system and internal beliefs - this is going to be the best journey of your lifetime.

So this little man - was the inspiration behind Bestbaby.com.sg as we wanted to give him our best (as do all parents, lol!)

The more we found these awesome products, the more we wanted to share it with friends and everyone else. I remember when we came across Freemie, the revolutionary breast pump. It took our world by storm and it quite literally launched us off into a level like never before. As a breastfeeding mother who was working full-time and juggling the demands of work, the long travel on the MRT (Pasir Ris to Alexandra & back!) and the night time feeding and pumpings - the Freemie concept blew my mind! The ease of use and the fact that my hands were really, truly and actually free set me free! I pumped on the train, while I was out for dinner, while I watched a movie and while I furiously typed away at the laptop. Pumping no longer was disruptive to my work, to my life and the Freemie enabled me to go on longer. We took the plunge and invested thousands in order to have ready stock in Singapore to service the market. Doing our accounts recently, I realised Bestbaby had purchased over $80,000 worth of Freemie products over the past year. That's amazing!!

I went from a full time working mum + business owner to a full time business owner so I can grow the business and spend time with my little man and what a journey it has been - I'll document this in one of my future posts for other aspiring entrepreneurial mothers. Slowly but surely our catalogue grew and is continuing to grow as I excitedly add products daily.

We have come a long way, from Freemie products to a range of other quality products to continuously sourcing new products to give you the best because, well, who is Bestbaby after all? Your baby, is the Bestbaby, to you :)

Check out this review courtesy of Viktoriya from the Breastfeeding Quest:

When I came across Trunki suitcase I thought it was a very clever toy and I knew right away that it would keep my son occupied.

Little did I know at that time, that it would become an irreplaceable part of our luggage and life!

Now, with the experience of using and abusing our Trunki, I declare with confidence: that is one of the smartest things I've ever purchased for my son!

It provides functional storage space on wheels and it is an amusing activity toy to take along.  A suitcase and a great toy - how clever is this?!

Trunki is great for taking on vacations (air, train, car), sleepovers, summer camps – and just about anywhere your child goes. Ride on, tag along or carry – whatever we did with it was all fun.

We loved the look of it too! My son picked the orange tiger one called Sunny. He loved pulling and pushing it around the house all the time up until the travel day. Trunki even "slept" by his bedroom.

Her new hairstyle is absolutely rocking and her hot mama bod in that emerald green dress...Then she goes and whips out a great pump to pump milk backstage at the Oscars! *jaw drops and immediate applause!* Pumping milk at the Oscars gets an award of its own - the awesome momma award!

This just goes to show, a momma has to do what a momma has to do, time and place regardless! Embrace motherhood mummies and enjoy every moment of it!

On a side, we do wonder what breastpump ScarJo was using? ;) The discreet Freemie perhaps?

There are a few improvements on the new cups, which will be very beneficial for all mothers :

        1. The new Freemie cups will come with transparent cups instead of translucent cups, so that mothers can see directly into the cups while pumping to see the amount of milk collected.
        2. The Freemie logo, funnel sizes and milk measurements in Ounces will be engraved into the cups!
        3. All Freemie cups will come with 2 backflow protectors (forget Avent kit or Medela kit)

        2. Working moms that always on the move (travel/running sales)

        4. Moms that often drive / stuck on MRTs for a long journey

        How to use Freemie
Freemie is a breast milk collection system which is fully concealable and allows mothers to pump while multitasking without being noticed! The differences between Freemie and other hands-free bras are shown in the video here:
